PawHut Chewproof Hamster Cage, Deep Base – Black/Transparent D51-548V00BK offers an 80×45×50.5 cm habitat with a deep base allowing 10–15 cm of bedding for natural burrowing, while four acrylic panels and a reinforced metal frame resist chewing and preserve structural stability. Side vents and a lift‑up lid with a large mesh door ensure airflow, easy feeding and quicker cleaning. FastDaddyshop consultants recommend it for a single Syrian or pairs of dwarf hamsters/gerbils when substrate depth and escape resistance are priorities.
Piles of scattered accessories and shallow substrate can stop hamsters and gerbils from showing natural digging and nesting behaviours. The PawHut Chewproof Hamster Cage, Deep Base – Black/Transparent D51-548V00BK solves this with an 80 x 45 x 50.5 cm living area and a deep plastic base that accommodates a substantially thicker bedding layer than many standard wire cages. From the practical experience of our consultants at FastDaddyshop, providing 10–15 cm of substrate encourages natural burrowing for Syrian hamsters and larger dwarf hybrids; smaller dwarf species may need slightly less depth (6–10 cm) so tunnels remain stable.
This model uses acrylic panels and a reinforced metal frame to resist determined gnawing and reduce deformation — a clear advantage over traditional pressed‑wood or thin‑wire cages. Mesh door dimensions (46 x 26 cm) and defined ventilation holes (0.8 x 10 cm side; 1 x 5.5 cm top) ensure airflow while helping prevent escapes. Our consultants often recommend this cage for single Syrian hamsters or pairs of dwarf hamsters/gerbils where extra floor space is needed for a running wheel, sand bath and hideouts. Assembly is required; the lift‑up lid and dual access openings simplify routine cleaning and feeding, which store managers consistently cite as practical time‑savers.
Practical cautions: this cage is best for small rodents—Syrian hamsters (preferably single housing), dwarf hamsters and gerbils. Avoid using for young pups under 6 weeks or for social groups that require more specialised multi‑level housing. Maintain ambient room temperatures between approximately 16–24°C for optimum comfort. Based on observations from our consultants, persistent chewers may still gnaw fittings over time; regular inspections are advised. For customers comparing options, this PawHut model is preferable to shallow‑base wire cages when burrowing and substrate depth are priorities, and it offers a chewieresistant alternative to thin acrylic-only enclosures.
