Outdoor Rugs and Weatherproof Mats for Patios and Decking

A bare patio or decked area can look and feel unfinished, and an outdoor rug is one of the simplest ways to add colour, comfort and a proper sense of a "room" to an outdoor space. Whether you're softening a hard patio floor, defining a seating area on decking, or adding a splash of pattern to a balcony, FastDaddyshop stocks weatherproof outdoor rugs to suit spaces of every size. On our site you can order compact rugs under 120 x 170 cm for balconies, larger area rugs from 200 x 300 cm for full patio seating areas, and reversible outdoor rugs offering two colourways in one piece.

Choosing an outdoor rug: what our customers ask most

• Will an outdoor rug survive British weather? Our consultants often advise polypropylene rugs specifically for outdoor use, since the fibres are naturally water-resistant and won't rot or grow mould the way indoor materials would if left out through a damp autumn. From the experience of FastDaddyshop's managers, this is the single most important spec to check before buying any rug for outdoor use.
• What size rug suits a standard patio? In practice, a rug large enough for the front legs of outdoor furniture to sit on works best, so a 4-seater dining set typically needs a rug of at least 200 x 250 cm. Undersized rugs are a common styling mistake, making a seating area feel smaller rather than more defined.
• Do outdoor rugs need to be brought in over winter? From experience, polypropylene rugs can generally stay outside year-round without damage, though we'd flag an expert caution: shaking off standing water after heavy rain and allowing rugs to dry fully helps prevent mildew building up underneath in prolonged damp spells.

Once your outdoor rug is in place, it's worth thinking about the rest of the space around it. Many of our customers pair a rug with sun loungers for a defined relaxing area, add garden fencing for privacy around the seating space, or bring in a shed for storing cushions and accessories between uses.
