Fire Pits and Outdoor Heaters for Evenings in the Garden
British evenings cool down quickly even in the middle of summer, and a fire pit or patio heater is what lets a garden gathering carry on well past sunset instead of moving indoors. Whether you need a compact fire pit for a small patio, a gas patio heater for consistent warmth, or a larger fire bowl that doubles as a centrepiece, FastDaddyshop stocks fire pits and outdoor heaters to suit gardens and gatherings of every size. On our site you can order steel fire pits under 60 cm in diameter for smaller patios, gas patio heaters producing 10–13 kW of warmth for genuine evening comfort, and larger fire bowls with a mesh cover for safer use around children.
Choosing a fire pit or outdoor heater: what our customers ask most
- Fire pit or gas heater — which is better? Our consultants often advise a fire pit for genuine ambience and a focal point for gathering around, since the visible flame adds something a heater can't, while gas patio heaters give more even, reliable warmth across a wider seating area regardless of wind direction. From the experience of FastDaddyshop's managers, gas heaters are usually the better choice for regularly used dining areas specifically.
- How much space does a fire pit need? In practice, allow at least 1 metre of clearance on all sides of a fire pit from furniture, fencing and overhanging branches, so a 60 cm diameter pit typically needs a clear area of around 2.5 x 2.5 metres. We'd flag an expert caution: always check local guidance on open fires, as some rented properties and close-boarded gardens restrict their use.
- How much heat output do I need from a patio heater? From experience, a 10–13 kW gas heater comfortably warms a seating area for 6–8 people in typical British evening temperatures, while smaller electric heaters suit more intimate 2–4 person spaces. Our managers have found positioning away from direct wind noticeably improves how far the warmth actually reaches.
Once your fire pit or heater is in place, it's worth thinking about the rest of the evening setup. Many of our customers add a log holder for fuel storage, bring in outdoor lighting for ambience after dark, or use a garden trolley to move logs and equipment around.
