Hammocks

Hammocks and Hanging Beds for Relaxed Garden Days

Few things say lazy summer afternoon quite like a hammock strung between two points, gently swaying while the rest of the garden gets on without you. Whether you're after a classic fabric hammock for two trees, a freestanding frame hammock that works anywhere in the garden, or a compact travel hammock for camping trips, FastDaddyshop stocks hammocks to suit gardens and getaways of every kind. On our site you can order single hammocks under 200 cm long for compact spaces, double hammocks around 200–260 cm for sharing, and freestanding steel-frame hammocks that don't rely on trees at all.

Choosing a hammock: what our customers ask most

  • Tree-hung or freestanding frame — which is better? Our consultants often advise freestanding frames for gardens without two suitably spaced, sturdy trees, since they work anywhere on level ground, while tree-hung hammocks are lighter, cheaper, and pack down smaller for travel. From the experience of FastDaddyshop's managers, freestanding frames are usually the better choice for most UK gardens specifically.
  • How much weight can a hammock hold? In practice, single hammocks are typically rated to 120–150 kg, while double hammocks and reinforced frames often support 200 kg or more across two people. We'd flag an expert caution: always check the frame rating separately from the fabric rating, as a weak frame is a more common failure point than the hammock itself.
  • What spacing do trees need for a hammock? From experience, allow around 4–4.5 metres between two anchor points for a comfortable hang with the right amount of sag, since hanging too tight puts unnecessary strain on both the hammock and the trees. Our managers have found this spacing is the detail most often got wrong when set up for the first time.

Once your hammock is in place, it's worth thinking about the rest of the garden around it. Many of our customers pair a hammock with a swing chair for varied seating, add sun loungers for sunbathing nearby, or browse camping and beach tents for taking the relaxed feeling further afield.
