From experience, tempered glass tops wipe clean easily and resist staining, while solid wood or composite tops feel warmer to the touch and are less prone to showing scratches from cutlery. We'd flag an expert caution: always check the glass is toughened rather than standard, particularly in households with children playing nearby.
