HOMCOM 100L Storage Chest with Safety Hinge - Grey 838-480V83GY

HOMCOM 100L Storage Chest with Safety Hinge - Grey 838-480V83GY

This HOMCOM 100L storage chest is a practical wood-effect blanket box and storage trunk designed for modern UK homes. With an internal capacity of 100 litres (inner size 75W x 36.5D x 36.5H cm) it comfortably holds throws, cushions, bedding and soft toys while the flat lid doubles as an occasional seat — rated to a maximum load of 136 kg. Our consultants often recommend this model when you want the look of a wooden storage bench without the maintenance of solid timber.

Based on the experience of FastDaddyshop store managers, a particleboard construction with melamine coating gives a smooth, low-maintenance finish that suits hallways, end-of-bed storage and living rooms. In practice, this grey wood-effect chest is preferable to a plastic deck box for indoor use because it matches interior decor better; however, it is not designed for outdoor exposure or prolonged damp conditions. Practical caution: particleboard can swell if repeatedly exposed to high humidity or temperatures above typical indoor ranges, so keep it in a dry, temperate room.

From the practical experience of our consultants, the safety hinge is a valuable feature — it prevents the lid from slamming and reduces the risk of trapped fingers. Note the specified storage weight capacity is 25 kg: use this chest for soft furnishings and light toys rather than heavy items such as books or tools. Add a cushion for comfort when using as seating and ensure children are supervised if they sit or play on the lid despite the safety hinge.
